Keeping Memories Close
~ It’s Important to Read Memories and Hear Them Too ~
We are very big into preserving family memories in my family, as my Dad has researched our family tree for the past 10 years. He’s built up a database of information, taken pictures of cemeteries, and written stories about our family. The only we don’t have as a record is to listen to the people in our family tell the stories. I remember when my grandmother passed away I wish I had some of the stories she used to tell on tape so I could hear them again and share them with my kids. She had an incredible life. She escaped from Estonia during WWII with her kids and ended up taking a ship to Ellis Island to come to America. She spoke seven languages and had many interesting stories from her experiences and travels. I really wish I had a way to hear those stories from her again.
I found a site where you can record and save those memories. It’s called Saving Memories Forever. It’s very simple to use as well. You can use the program just from your computer if you have MP3 files, or you can use them in conjunction with a free app you can download on your iPhone. I downloaded the app easily from the iTunes Store on my iPhone and from there I can record files and it sends them directly to my account online. You can add storytellers to your account, put their photos in their profiles, add their age, and even use sample prompt questions to answer (or just tell stories of your own). I love this easy way to record and save memories of your loved ones. I wish I had this a few years ago with my grandmother.
Easy to Download On Your iPhone:
Get the App on your iPhone and Click on it to Start!
Next it will show the Storytellers you’ve added to the account, select the one you want, and select their age.
There are prompt questions to choose from and then you can easily record the Storyteller’s voice in the iPhone.
Then you are done! It uploads to your online account to manage, and you can choose to go to the Home Page or Share on FB!
Go and download the app and use the service on the Saving Memories Forever site today! I love how you can use the site alone if you want, but using them together gives you the entire experience easily at your fingertips. Just think the next time you are visiting a loved one and would love to preserve their stories, all you need to do is take out your iPhone, record the story, upload it to your online account, and manage all your stories there! And as I realize now, it’s never too late to start! I will remember what I can from my grandmother’s stories and record them today for my kids to have in the future!
There are free accounts and premium accounts. Check them out today! What a great gift to give to your relatives this holiday too! A year long premium membership! And don’t forget to check them out on Facebook as well.
* This is a sponsored post and I was provided with a membership to the service free of charge to test out. All opinions are mine and mine alone.
What a neat app! I would love to have it. I think it’s great that you dad went all over and got so much on your family history.
Interesting–wonder why someone hadn’t thought of this earlier. Great idea!! It could also be used to have one’s family recipes stored verbally–
WOW – they have an app for that? I have a family member on each side that is doing this…I shall pass this on to them. Sounds very interesting.
This is great app. I would love for my parents to use this.

This is a pretty neat idea especially for those who can’t find the time to write things down. I never knew it existed!
Excited to hear about this app! This is just like sitting down with great grandma and hearing about her younger days! What a treasure this will be years from now for my children.

Well that’s a neat little app!
I love it. This is a cool app and it would be very useful to record parents who are aging and having trouble writing.
My hubby is in charge of the family tree around here. He’s taken his voice recorder with on visits to capture stories. I like the idea of prompts to help!
I don’t have a phone like this, but this looks really neat. My sister uses some cool apps and I am going to tell her about this one!
That is really neat. I really wish I had recorded my grandparents before they passed away. What a wonderful gift to give to someone.
What an awesome app, I am going to check it out now.
