We Love Our Holiday Traditions
~ This Tradition Started When I Was A Kid ~
Do you have a family tradition that has been passed down over the years? We have a few in my family, and one of those traditions is to get toothbrushes in our stockings. You can count on getting a new toothbrush from Santa every year, because Santa cares about your teeth and gums being healthy and that’s just the way it is! You don’t hear on Christmas morning “Did you get a toothbrush?” but instead “What toothbrush did you get this year?” I am happy to say that I’ve passed this tradition down to my family, and love that my kids know it’s a tradition they can count on. I can actually still count on it as well, as Santa delivers new toothbrushes to me and my hubby in the gifts my parents mail to us. It’s very cute that my mom still keeps it up! I love it because I love family traditions!
This year my kids are exchanging small gifts with some of their friends, and so when we went to Walmart to look around Kendal ran right to the Colgate display to find some toothbrushes. When we think of the holidays in our family, toothbrushes just come to mind! We heard there might be some Colgate Holiday Packs already put together, but unfortunately our Walmart didn’t have any. That wasn’t going to stop us though! We are creative and can make our own! No problem! The great thing about this idea for a $5 exchange gift is that we could get the Dora the Explorer matching toothbrush, toothpaste, and soap ALL for a little under $6! Close enough and a great deal! Kendal got Dora for her friend, and Drew picked out a Spongebob Squarepants matching set for his buddy.
After we got home we created our own Colgate holiday pack with the toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap. The kids are excited to give these as gifts and to share our family tradition with their friends. They also said that they hoped Santa would bring them the same ones. I think that can be arranged! My kids are so funny because they actually love taking care of their teeth and going to the dentist. I don’t know too many kids that actually like seeing the dentist, but they do! They also like keeping their teeth healthy in between dental visits. Kendal always reminds Drew if he forgets to brush before bed. It’s very cute. Colgate is a great brand to help kids keep their dental health up. We especially love these things about the Colgate products for our kids:
- Designed especially for kids
- Has a mild flavor the kids love
- Clinically-proven cavity and enamel protection that strengthens and protects kids’ teeth
- The kids love the designs of their products

I also put the toothbrush packs in the kids’ stockings after they went to bed to see how they would look! I think they will be perfect for Christmas morning! They will be excited too ~ which I love seeing their little faces that way!

Great Idea! I Think I May Do That This Christmas! My Daughter Loves Dora & I Know She’d Love That Dora Set!
This is a really cute idea. I hope your kids love their brushes this year!
Love it! when I was three I wanted 2 things for Christmas… a cabbage patch kid and pink toothbrush. Needless to say… It’s a tradition here too! 😉
What a great idea! I am totally doing this 🙂
Those are really cute sets! We started this tradition in our little family. It’s not one that either of us did in our childhood; but one we started on our own. Now our kids look forward to the tooth brush and tooth paste each year! 🙂
Toothbrushes really do make great stocking stuffers!
Such a great idea! I was thinking of starting that tradition with my kids this year too 🙂
Cute. B needs a new toothbrush, I know exactly what I’ll be putting in his stocking!! 😉
Your holiday packages are so cute! I love that you are promoting good oral health!
This is very cute and hygienic 🙂 My family’s tradition is going from house to house and helping put up Christmas Trees and decorate the home. It is big thing because I am from a huge family and they all come out to help, laugh and have a good time together. Thanks for sharing.

Cute! Colgate has such fun items for kids.
What a great idea! After all those sweet desserts, a toothbrush is needed..
I’ve done that a few times, but my parents did it every year. I remember thinking…mom and dad are you serious? It’s Christmas!!!! But then I became a parent and understood. LOL
My mom used to give us hairspray, shampoo and toothpaste many years. This is a great tradition to pass on.
I love giving personal care products in stocking for the holidays.
This is a great idea to add personal care products
Your house looks so christmassy! My mom always does toothbrushes for us too. I need to add some to my kids’ stocking this year
What a great tradition! And Colgate has certainly made a product that kids will willingly use!!
That’s a really cute (and practical!) for stocking stuffers 🙂 Great idea!
How awesome! That’s a really cute tradition!
We totally do the same thing!
what a great stocking stuffer.
When we went to the dentist in October they all got new toothbrushes, my son said, “We can use these until Santa brings us the new ones.” We always get toothbrushes in our stockings, Santa is a smart guy.
Love doing toothbrush packages in their stockings! They actually get excited for it, too, which is a bonus. Great tradition!
My mother takes care of the toothbrushes, underwear and socks. She’s practical like that. I don’t know what I’d think if my stocking didnt have a toothbrush!
Thats a great idea!
I have not even begun to think about stocking stuffers, but need to start a idea list. Thanks for the ideas, and I love the bow!
what a great idea! Socks are our tradition!!
Thats a great idea for a tradition! Nothing like building healthy habits, instead of always having that special sugary dessert as a tradition!
My daughter loves her Spongebob brush! They are so reasonably priced to be such good toothbrushes! I am impressed!
Dawn
always put toothbrushes in as stocking stuffers, alongside the chocolate 🙂
Being married to a dentist, I feel like we give out toothbrushes at every possible opportunity, lol 🙂
This is awesome!!! We do toothbrushes too! …and contact solution 🙂 I loved getting a new brush and my own toothpaste in my stocking. We all got small personal items just for us. In a scent we loved, or a new cool brand. Passing this along to Addie is going to be fun (got her the kids banana toothbrush and a finger one this year).
Beautiful stockings! It’s funny because just today I had the idea of buying an electric toothbrush for our son for his stocking!
That a cute idea! My kids love getting new toothbrushes & toothpaste especially if they have characters on them, they’d be thrilled to find them in their stockings.
We always get toothbrushes in stocking. I thought we were the only ones lol
I really like that idea. I think my kids may just find toothbrushes in their stockings this year!
What a great tradition! Looks like you guys had fun at Walmart, too!
What a great idea for a kids’ gift swap! So fun. And I love that your parents still send you toothbrushes for Christmas! Love holiday traditions that last and last! 🙂
I love that tradition! What a great idea for the gift exchange! I will have to remember that.
we always had an orange in out stocking. that was one thing for sure.
I put in my kids some fruit all the time.
Our holiday tradition is to sit as a family and watch the original Home Alone. I started putting toothbrushes in the kids stockings the year after I put chocolate in and forgot about it when I lit the fireplace, it was quite messy, lol. Love colgate, my little one loves the characters which helps to get him to brush.
Such a cute way to give a gift. I would never have thought about toothbrush for Christmas but we do nifty soaps and stuff, so it just makes sense!
Wonderful idea!! We have 4 kids and this will be a great new tradition. Also, I just read you are from RI. My Dad grew up in Providence, RI. and I love the accent! Such a pretty state~ Patty Kraft
These are the perfect stocking stuffers!
I need to do that for my kids for their stockings.
