I am lucky that I found a place here in Rhode Island where I can send my kids for early language classes to give them some exposure to other languages. It’s called Small Talk Language Academy. There are multiple locations in the state, and what I love about this program is that they use hands-on immersion to really get the kids exposed in a fun way through play. They won’t even really know they are in class and learning. They will just think they are playing and having fun ~ but you know they’ll be learning something essential for their educational success. The future for kids will involve speaking multiple languages in this very global world we live in! Learning languages will only become more and more important for success in life!
The programs are for kids ages 6-months through 12 years old. They have small classes for more individual attention and different programs to choose from. They teach Spanish, French, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese. They have both classes and camps to check out! Visit their site and see which one fits best for you and your child. They use a special technique to teach as well:

I definitely think it’s important for kids to have more than one language. Mine have taken both Spanish and French in school. I definitely should have tried this at a younger age.
What a great and important program! I am such an advocate of children learning a second language, especially because we live in a global marketplace and the more languages you know the more opportunities you have.
I would love to get my daughter into a program like this. I think it will only help her as she gets older.
My daughter started learning a 2nd language in her elementary school. I love that. I never studied a 2nd language until I was almost in high school

I would live to find a program like that for my youngest, but he’s only two so I have a few years before we start a second language.
What a great program! Definitely one of the best ways to introduce young children to new languages!
I would love to even speak and understand more Spanish. I had it when I was in school but don’t remember much. I think it’s great that now my daughter is learning Spanish in school and is only in 2nd grade.
I think Spanish would be most useful, but if my 5 year old could choose it would be between Spanish and Mandarin!
What an awesome program, I wish they had one near us so I can enter! My little girl is a sponge for knowledge and would love this. She is always asking me to quiz her on spanish colors and numbers.
I know I would like to speak more Spanish, my daughter speaks it very well. Sounds like a pretty interesting program.
What a neat program. My older kids are both currently taking Spanish. It has been really hard for one.
What a great program! I think it’s important to speak a 2nd language.
I agree learning languages early on is great. I used systems with my oldest son and we are currently doing it with the youngest. Sadly, we have not caught on as much as they have (yes we are old, lol) but I want them to learn. We are teaching them sign language and Spanish with a little French and German.
That’s awesome! They have language classes in some schools but I don’t want to have to travel to another school on the other side of the city every Saturday. I wish there was enough interest to have it at our school.
Language is always a gift. A child always benefits from learning a second or third language.
Chinese and Spanish are going to be so important in the future business industry, great to get them started early!
My daughter is half Hispanic and we aren’t around her Spanish-speaking relatives enough. I’d love for her to embrace that half of her heritage though. Thanks for the giveaway!
I took both French & Spanish in school. However, I remember VERY little. More than anything though, I hope that my kids pick at least one other language that they enjoy & learn. Our neighbor is fluent in German (she’s from there). Hopefully at least one of the kids will let her teach them the language. TY for sharing!

I thought about trying one of the programs to learn another language. It sure would help me to help my kids in their homework.
I am seriously thinking about starting this for the kids, thanks!
Spanish!
What a great program! I wonder if there is something similar where I live. That would be neat.
Here in Canada we have the option to start French in grade 1, the early the better, for sure!!
Sounds like a great program. Language is very important!
My Grandmother started teaching me Gaelic when I was two. I was fluent by 5, and after she died when I was 17, I forgot it completely. I would love to learn it again, but it’s too difficult for a 24 years old to do…
I would love to teach my sons, Spanish!
My inlaws are from the Dominican Republic so the Spanish culture and language is very important to my husband. I would love my kids to be able to speak Spanish!
Since my other major in college was Spanish, I’d have to go with that.
I always wish I had continued learning Spanish after high school. Learning a second language is so important.
I would love for my children to learn Spanish!
This looks like such a great program! Thanks for sharing Kristin 🙂
what a great program! I’ve always wanted to teach my kids a second language…but would need to teach myself first. This is fantastic.
Being that my Huasband’s family is of French Canadian decent, I think French would be special to her. But I’m Irish so, selfishly, I’d love her to know Gaelic! Even if it would serve her no purpose haha
I think Chinese would be amazing! They are like little sponges when they are young. This sounds like a great program.
I want my kids to learn French (that is my heritage and I speak French), Italian (my husband is Italian), or Spanish (usefull nowaday).
Spanish, Mandarin & Italian. Why not all of them!? 🙂
