Pumpkin Picking at Schartner Farms
~ A Family Tradition in Exeter, RI ~
In October for the past four years since we’ve lived in Rhode Island, we’ve gone to Schartner Farms in Exeter, RI for pumpkin picking and the “not-so-haunted” hayride. The kids love it!
You start out getting loaded onto the trailers full of hay that theΒ tractor pulls, and you are taken on a ride out to where the pumpkins and corn maze are. There is a fun scavenger hunt along the way where the kids look for fun items like sleds, spiders, and flowers in the trees and bushes along the way. At the end of the ride the kids turn in their scavenger hunt check sheets for a little prize.Β
Out in the field there are games, food, pumpkins, and of course the corn maze. The maze has questions along the way to answer and you need to get them correct to go the right way. We got really lost last year during the space-themed maze, but this year we made it out pretty quickly. The theme this year was the Wild West!Β
We went with our good friends from one town over, but also ran into other friends as well. It was a great time for all the families we saw! And of course you have to pick which pumpkin you want and take it back with you. Kendal and Drew picked out very different looking pumpkins! Now for the carving this week, our other fall family tradition!!!
What are your Fall Family Traditions?
I wish we had a pumpkin patch around here! I haven’t been able to go to one since I was a little girl in Indiana.
It’s so much more fun being able to pick your own pumpkins π
That is SOOOO cool! I miss places that open up fields for pumpkin picking! They did that in kansas when we lived there. Here we just have to go to the store and pick out of the bins. Not as much fun. π But we did pick out our pumpkins tonight; and will hopefully be carving them on Saturday. That is definitely a family tradition every autumn. So excited.
So much fun! We are heading to the pumpkin patch this weekend!
How fun! We need to hit the pumpkin farm this weekend so we can get my daughter’s bday pumpkin. When’s she’s a bit older we’ll do hayrides and corn mazes. I loved hay rides as a kid.
