Book Review By MamaLuvsBooks:
“The College Success Plan” by, Annette Bosley-Boyce is a book created for high school students, primarily sophomore year and up. It can also be useful to people in their early college years still figuring things out, people deciding to go back to school, or even students in their freshman year getting a jump start on college planning. There are many fantastic things about this book! Not only does it help guide you in self-discovery about your future plans, but it also serves as a tool to write and document your journey leading to college applications and skills beyond. I truly wish I had access to a book like this leading up to applying for college. I had so many unanswered questions while applying and entering college. I was unsure how to find the right college for me, and I really didn’t know what path I wanted to take with my education. I ended up being successful with the college I chose; however, I lived off campus at home and always regretted that decision. There is an entire section in this book helping to make these decisions. It lists pros and cons, and I really wish I could have known those and weighed those out while I was deciding what to do.

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THE BOOK:
1. The layout of the book is user-friendly and is split up into weekly sections. It guides you through a month long process to help find yourself, your dreams, your college aspirations, and how to go about all the details of applying.

2. There are sections to read with tips, pros/cons, and worksheets/exercises to fill out as you go.
3. The book is a tool you can use and refer back to; a journal of your journey and a place with your thoughts and notes. I even learned a lot about myself as a person and what I want out of life from reading this book.
4. The book provides practical and sound/researched advice.
5. The exercises presented help you to think about YOUR life and what YOU want out of it.

6. The book teaches about resume writing, interviewing, essay writing, etc. (and gives examples and tips for each).

7. I love that the book discusses financial aid options and how to go about receiving it, which is needed with rising tuition costs and the state of the economy in this country.

I would rate this book a 5/5 and highly recommend it to teens, parents, and anyone looking at finding their career and education paths in life.

Annette Bosley-Boyce is a college administrator, part-time English faculty member, wife, mother, and life-long learner. Through her 12+ years of teaching and mentoring college students, she’s learned that many need more direction when it comes to planning for their future, especially before accruing oppressive student loan debt. This growing trend among college students is the reason for writing her first book and sharing her “practical” college planning strategy to parents and their college bound teens.
