Boston Walgreens Flagship Store Recently Opened; A Store You Don’t Want to Miss!

disclosure-collective-bias

I was lucky enough to be at the grand opening event of the new flagship Walgreens Store in Boston, MA, #BOSWAG. It is located at the corner of School and Washington Streets in the heart of Boston. This highly traveled and touristy corner will bring in many customers to the new store. The offerings this store has will amaze those that decide to visit it. I want to share with you all the aspects of the store that I believe sets it apart from all others.

Innovative Pharmacy

Walgreens wants to make the way your local pharmacy interacts with you in a new and different way. There are no medications out front; only a desk with the pharmacist ready to consult with you. They want the focus to be on the people and their needs and not on the medications themselves. Computer programs let the pharmacist view the medications on the screen for information and approval. This area also includes a private consultation room with sound proof walls and an Express Rx kiosk for for quick checkout.

LOOK Boutique

This area for your make-up and beauty needs looks more like an upscale department store than a drugstore. There is a Nail Salon to get your nails manicured with polish or gels at an affordable price, a Ramy brow salon to have your eyebrows plucked to perfection, a computerized kiosk that takes your photo and shows you what certain products would look like on you when you scan them into the computer (and yes, you can share it straight to Facebook to show your friends), a sample machine that gives you quality sample products for $1 per sample, and a No7 beauty products area by Boots, a British company that makes well-known anti-aging beauty serums. My favorite product I purchased from the LOOK Boutique was a lip gloss that lights up and has a mirror, which is a product exclusive to Walgreens.

Sushi and Juice Bars

Who doesn’t love fresh sushi made right in front of you, and some healthy and delicious smoothies made to order? My favorite is that the smoothies have all names that relate to the Boston local area. I tried the “Wicked Good (For You)” smoothie that was tasty and super healthy, made with spinach, kale, carrots, apples, and ginger! Many aspects of the store are related to the Boston area to give it that special charm.

Quality Grab-N-Go

People that work in the Boston area will definitely be heading to Walgreens for their $5 Grab-N-Go section on a consistent basis. You can get a fresh made sandwich and salad for a great price! The combo is just $5 and you choose the salad and sandwich you want. This is a very healthy and affordable option for people on the go!

Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine

A Coca-Cola machine with over 146 flavors of fountain sodas! How awesome is this? You can make your soda as customized as you wish. I personally liked the Cherry Vanilla Coke. If I lived closer I would be visiting this Walgreens daily.

Frozen Yogurt Bar

Do you ever worry about your kids piling on too many heavy gummy worms on their frozen yogurt because you will end up paying $15 for it once you weigh it in at checkout? You won’t have to worry about that at this fro-yo bar! You only pay for the size cup you choose, and then you can put on the toppings of your choice to your heart’s content.

Alcoholic Beverages and Virtual Bartender

It is actually hard to find places that are allowed to sell alcohol in the city, but here at Walgreens you can find a great selection of beer, wine and hard alcohol. I love the virtual bartender machine that prints out recipes for cocktails and you can find the ingredients for your drinks right there at Walgreens.

Grand Opening

Walgreens held a grand opening event for the flagship store. I was lucky to be able to attend this event with the company I work for, Collective Bias. Walgreens served food, cocktails, and gave a tour of the store. There were celebrities there like Mark Wahlberg (a Boston native), Paula Deen, and sports celebrities including current and former Patriots players. The ribbon cutting ceremony in the morning was amazing as Walgreens donated over $100,000 to various programs, including the Boston Police Relief Association, the Boston Fire Department Children’s Fund, the Boston EMS Relief Association and the One Fund Boston. It was nice to see this charity after the devastation of the Boston Marathon Bombings just weeks earlier.

I highly recommend checking out the Boston Walgreens Flagship Store when you are in the area. I live in Rhode Island, and you can bet I will be visiting this store again when I am in Boston. There are other Walgreens Flagships stores in other cities like Washington, D.C., Chicago, and San Francisco (just to name a few), so look for ones with similar amenities closer to your area. The Walgreens in Boston is open 24 hours every day with pharmacy hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sundays. 1. Kristin – Mark Whalberg! I am so jealous! What a great store. I can’t wait to check it out next time I am in Boston.

    • If this happens in Minneapolis – It will put the cherry on top of the cake.

Down town Minneapolis is exploding and is truly matching up to its nick-name the Mini-Apple (Little New York).

Not only would this store gain patrons galore with the booming residential landscape that is taking over, Im sure it will also become a tourist attraction also with all the convention we have in our city.. Im excited! Hope this really happens.

I work downt town at the Library and have shown this article to my co-workers………….’WE CAN’T WAIT’ !
