As a full time mom and a pediatric occupational therapist by profession, I recognize the importance of play in my child’s development. I’m always looking for toys and activities that will grab my child’s interest and ignite his imagination. I have an active four year old little boy who tends to be a concrete thinker. I also have a curious little baby girl who is into anything her big brother is doing. I sometimes have trouble finding toys that capture and maintain my son’s interest, so when I was given the opportunity to review toy vehicles from ToyState, I was cautiously optimistic. When our box arrived, we were so excited to see the huge variety of vehicles within. There were push cars, remote control cars, spy themed cars, and even a CAT bulldozer! My son wanted each one opened immediately!
We started with the car that intrigued him the most; the Bubble Driver RC tm by Road Rippers Preschool (ages 3+). After some work to figure out how to pour the bubbles into the designated area, and to get the batteries inserted into the correct place…we were off. The car was remote control, and my son quickly figured out how to operate them. The car ran on both carpet and hardwood with ease. As the car drove across the floor, the lower section lit up and music played. Most importantly, bubbles floated out the back of the truck and filled the air. Not only was my son hooked, but my daughter followed along excitedly popping bubbles and squealing with happiness.
We also played with a variety of other cars that were not RC controlled. We had fun with the Road Rippers R Hatchbacks. This car was intriguing because we could lift the hatch and flip the sound system in the trunk to feature three different combinations of lights and sounds.
The Beat Makerz tm by Dub Garage car was particularly fun for my son, who is into music. With this car, not only could you push it around, but you could also stop and make your own music. There were several push dials located on the back of the car that could be adjusted to create a unique musical beat. My son had to stop driving several times to dance along with the tunes.
The next cars we couldn’t wait to get our hands on were the spy-themed cars. We had fun playing with the 007 tm Casino Royale and the 007 tm For Your Eyes Only RC. The Casino Royale car was motorized and could be propelled forward. We had fun launching this across our floor. It also had lights and sounds which added to the play experience. My son (and my husband) were both super hooked on the For Your Eyes Only RC. This car just looked cool sitting in the box. Once we got it out and installed the batteries, we played with the light and sound features. The headlights lit up brightly and the car played the familiar spy theme song.
The remote control was a little tricky for my four year old to figure out (the box is labeled 7+), but with some help from Dad, he got the basics down. The boys had fun driving the car all around the house and through a variety of obstacles. My daughter was amazed and joined in on the fun too!
When things started to get a little wild in the house, we decided to move outside. The boys wanted to see how fast the car could go, so we needed a straightaway. We found one right in the front yard on our sidewalk. The whole family spent a good hour outside together playing with this remote control car. We had a blast! Toy Cars Can Be Fun for the Entire Family!
Overall, we had so much fun playing and learning with these fun vehicles. Here are a few things we absolutely loved:
- Remote Controls: These vehicles were especially interesting for my little thinker, who loves to problem solve and figure out how things work.
- Variety: The cars were fun because not only could you drive them around the house, but they also provided a variety of sensory experiences, from adjustable lights to customizable sounds, to floating bubbles; the options for play were endless.
- Themes: From spy cars, to muscle cars, to construction vehicles…all of these themes fueled the imagination and captured my little man’s interest.
- Family Fun: The added benefit of playing with these vehicles is that the whole family had a chance to be involved. These toys ignited the imagination of not only my little boy, but his daddy too. They got to spend a lot of quality time together while they explored the cars and the controls. My baby girl even got in on the action and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
