Nutrisystem Week 21: Making Better Choices

The Twenty-first Week………

Making Better Choices When You’re Out!

I’ve just finished my twenty-first week on the program, and I am happy to say because of Nutrisystem I can now make better choices when faced with food situations. I went to my sister-in-law’s “Sprinkle”~ which if you don’t know is a small baby shower for someone who already has a child. It was a fun event celebrating the soon-to-be birth of her daughter who will be arriving in just two weeks! Of course at an event like this there is food galore! I had already been away from home for a week, so I had been working hard to make better choices while eating out on vacation. Now that I’ve been on Nutrisystem for a while it is easier to know what to order at restaurants. I look for things labeled as healthy choices, look at calories if listed, choose fruits and veggies, and order lean proteins as well. Lastly, I stay away from anything fried or in heavy cream sauces. You get the picture.

At this party though the food just looked so great! They had homemade treats which I really wanted, so what I decided to do was to fill my plate with mostly fresh fruit, and then I took a cucumber sandwich and just a teaspoon sized scoop of the cinnamon roll casserole I really wanted. Normally I would fill half my plate with what I truly wanted, but now I’ve learned to control myself a bit. I know I will have to pay for it later if I don’t. It was fine though. Just having that one bite was good. I didn’t feel guilty for over-indulging, and I was still able to get a small taste of it. Totally enough!

I’m glad Nutrisystem has given me these skills. I am home now from my 10 day trip to DC and just started back on my Nutrisystem meals. I do feel safer eating those than ordering other food. Even when you’re trying to be healthy you never know exactly what the fat and calorie counts are in the foods. My weight over the trip stayed the same (even with walking around DC and such). I guess that’s a victory since I didn’t gain. Hopefully back into losing this next week!
