A Great Motivating Tool for Kids ~ Get Those Chores Done and Learn to Save!

Need Help Getting the Kids to do Their Chores?
~ Tykoon Is the Answer ~
I have two kids, ages 5 and 7 (almost 8), and believe it or not it’s the older one I have real problems with doing her chores. Yes, she gets an allowance, and I also give her non-monetary related incentives. These seemed to work for a while, but she gets bored and fights with me about doing them. I tried the sticker chart. That worked for about a week. In any case, the one thing that does seem to motivate her is being on my computer;”Like a big person doing work,” she says.
Tykoon is an online resource for parents to help motivate and teach kids about responsibility and money. You can set-up chores for the kids to complete, set-up how they are going to use their money (spending, saving, donating to charity), and they can set-up goals of things they are saving for (college, a video game, and in my daughter’s case a stuffed animal). It is so easy to sign-up and set-up your account. The program is functional and simple to figure out. You can set-up pages for multiple kids, decide on tasks (and the frequency of the task), and what incentive the kids will receive for completing the task (money or a non-monetary).

My daughter is SUPER excited about the program. I have never seen her more motivated to do chores. I liked that she even added more chores to her list than I had for her. She added clean the rabbit cage out and feed the rabbit. She asks to check my computer now all the time, and she likes that she can see the money build up in her account.

You can also download a Tykoon app from the iTunes store to run on your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. I will definitely be downloading these apps to both my iPhone and iPad as I can see my daughter loves this program and it’s motivating her. This will give her multiple places to access the program when I am on the computer. She tried to kick me off the computer this morning to check off that she brushed her teeth!

My daughter’s favorite part of the program so far is creating her own goals and what she wants to save up for! I love that! And my favorite part is we can discuss the importance of money, saving money, and donating to others.

Also, if you invite 5 friends to sign-up and they stay on for one month, then you will get a $25 Amazon GC! How great is that! It’s a WIN~WIN since the program rocks, so they will love it and thank you for introducing it to them and you will make a little Amazon money!

Make sure to check out Tykoon! Great site! Motivating for kids! I highly recommend it and my daughter loves it!
