Divergent Series Themed Book Club Meeting

Are you thinking of planing a party or book club meeting for the Divergent Book Series by Veronica Roth? Here are some great ideas for planning a fun and exciting theme party! As you already know, I am in multiple book clubs. I love reading and I love getting together with my friends to discuss books. I heard about the Divergent series a while back, so I suggested these books to read for one of my book clubs. I LOVED the entire series, and I wanted others to enjoy this world that Veronica Roth creates too. Read my review of the Divergent Series to see what I thought about the books.

We actually ended up having two different book club meetings for these books. The first meeting was for the Divergent book. At this meeting we came dressed as the faction we thought we belonged in, took faction quizzes while we were there, and discussed the book while eating some fabulous treats. Everyone loved the book! At the meeting we had a couple Dauntless, a few Abnegation, some Amity, a few Erudite, but no one dressed as Candor. I came dressed as Abnegation, but then halfway through the meeting I rolled up my sleeves to show my fake tattoos and revealed that I was indeed Divergent. It was fun! The quiz I took at the meeting concluded that I was actually Erudite; that was different than I was expecting.

The next book club meeting was for the final two books; Insurgent and Allegiant. To make this meeting fun and different, I decided to plan my food according to the factions. I hosted this meeting at my house. I created a fun Choosing Ceremony as well. We had a great time discussing the books and feasting on faction food.

The Choosing Ceremony

I bought shot glasses from Amazon for a great price, and everyone got their own to take home. For the “Choosing Ceremony,” each book club member was called up by name and had to pour a shot of the drink that went with the faction they were choosing to join. We had three join Dauntless (including me), one Amity, one Erudite, two Abnegation, and no Candor once again. It was fun and we all took the shots at the same time; after everyone had filled their shot glasses and selected their factions. Toasting to “Faction Before Blood!”

Having themed book club meetings is so much fun! It really helps you get into the book and the characters! Make sure to also check out my post about The Fifty Shades Trilogy book club meeting.

Which Faction Would You Choose?

Abnegation (The Selfless), Erudite (The Intelligent), Dauntless (The Brave),
Candor (The Honest), Amity (The Peaceful)
