This is my 1,000th post! Wow! Blogging Can Take You to Places That You Never Dreamed!

Blogging has taken me to places that I would have never even dreamed about. As I sit here writing my 1,000th post on my site, I think back to how it all started. I began as a contributor on a friend’s site, and then I advanced to helping others start their own sites. I knew the ins and outs of blogging, how to post, how to write code (for the most part), but starting my own blog was something I was unsure about. I didn’t want the responsibility of having to post on my own, of having to contact people for opportunities, and much more. I was nervous to learn about what it really takes to be a successful blogger. But as they say, you never really know until you try it yourself. So, that is exactly what I did. It was all just for fun and then turned into so much more!

Kristin Wheeler, Mama Luvs Books

It was definitely challenging at first. I started writing about books (since I have a passion for reading), but decided that I had much more to offer and to talk about. I wanted to share stories about my kids, parenting tips, use my background as an educator, write product reviews on things I love, and much more. This Mama really loved EVERYTHING! So you know what you do when you own your own business? Anything you want! That’s the beauty of it! And that is exactly what I did. I joined groups like MomDot to collaborate and learn from other bloggers. I joined many Facebook groups with other bloggers to work together and learn from each other. I started finding companies like Social Fabric, Mom Central, Clever Girls, The Motherhood, SITS Girls and Mom Select to earn real money from blogging. I realized after about a year or so into blogging, that this was the world I wanted to be in!

Mama Luvs Books

I always promised my husband that I would go back to working full time after our kids were in school all day. I thought I would probably go back to teaching full time, but instead my career path took another direction. I slowly worked my way up with one company that I loved blogging for, and now I have a full time job as a Community Campaign Manager with them. My job with Collective Bias was a dream come true! I love working from home, being involved in the campaign/client side of social media, and still having time during the night hours to work on my site. Blogging is where it all started, and I will continue to grow with my site even with working full time. It can be done! I can’t wait to see what 2014 will bring to Mama Luvs Books! I will work hard to bring you interesting content to read throughout the year!
