You all know what a fan I am of premium cable network shows. I have probably watched almost every series on HBO and Showtime that is out there; not to mention all the hit shows on AMC, FX, and BBC America too. I love watching a great quality series, and True Detective Season 1 was no exception. This show was phenomenal. We couldn’t wait to watch it week after week. It always left you hanging on and wanting to see more.
I am going to also admit that I was never a huge fan of Matthew McConaughey (who played Rust Cohle in True Detective), but this converted me 100%. I am now a big fan of his. His acting was on point, believable, and like no other role I had ever seen him in. He was just a superb actor. Alright, alright, alright! What else can I say? I have always been a fan of Woody Harrelson (Martin Hart in True Detective), so I was not surprised that I loved him in this series as well. The interaction between the two characters is what makes the entire series. Yes, the plot and storyline of a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana keeps you on the edge of your seat, but overall the way these two characters relate to each other is the most dynamic and exhilarating thing to watch.
This series is an absolute must see, and the perfect Father’s Day gift for this coming weekend. True Detective will be available at Best Buy on Tuesday, June 10th for purchase. Father’s Day is Sunday, June 15th, so that will be plenty of time for you to head there and pick it up. A fun idea would be to make a gift basket full of great HBO Series at Best Buy for dad to watch! Some other great series to pick up at Best Buy include: HBO’s Game of Thrones, HBO’s Eastbound and Down, and HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. What an awesome gift for dad this would be!

I can’t say I’ve ever heard of this HBO series before but if it has Matthew and Woody in it, it must not be half bad! Those premium cable channels always have the best original series.
How did I not know that this was on TV?! I’m a huge woody fan and never heard of it before!
I think Matthew’s acting has improved immensely over the last several years. I’ve been impressed with all of his work lately. This would make a super gift!
