What is Mommy Reading? – “The Girls From Ames”

This book titled, “The Girls From Ames” by, Jeffrey Zaslow is a great story about a group of women who grew up together and whose lives are intertwined and impact each other greatly. It is based on a true story of eleven women from Ames, Iowa. The story lines draw you in to want to read more about each woman’s story. I think it’s amazing how such a large group of women could remain friends for all those years. I would love to see a follow-up and see where they are today.

Here is a description of the book (book is 320 pages):
Meet the Ames Girls: eleven childhood friends who formed a special bond growing up in Ames, Iowa. As young women, they moved to eight different states, yet managed to maintain an enduring friendship that would carry them through college and careers, marriage and motherhood, dating and divorce, a child’s illness and the mysterious death of one member of their group. Capturing their remarkable story, The Girls from Ames is a testament to the deep bonds of women as they experience life’s joys and challenges — and the power of friendship to triumph over heartbreak and unexpected tragedy.” – Amazon.com

Personal Rating:
On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), I would rate this book an 8.  I really enjoyed the characters stories throughout the book, the relationships the characters had with each other, and the fact this was based on a true story.  I recommend this book to others! The only drawback was following eleven different story lines, but once you catch on it’s worth it!
