Orange-Is-The-New-Black

Season 3 of Orange is the New Black has been released on Netflix! As I was completely obsessed with seasons 1 and 2, I obviously binged on season 3 and have finished it already. This season was a bit different than the first two seasons. In season one, we really just met the characters and were introduced to Piper Chapman and how she got put into prison. She had to acclimate to her new surroundings and even found her former partner in crime Alex Vause while she was in there. Season two continued with the storyline, and we got to learn more about the background of other inmates as well. Seeing these “clips from the past” are great and help you understand the characters more in depth. There was a lot of violence in season two, especially surrounding the character Vee Parker. There were some of those “on the edge of your seat” scenes.

If season two was focused more on prison violence, then season three is the season of OITNB comedy. There was very little violence this go around, but A LOT of humor. My favorite group of ladies this time around were: Poussey, Black Cindy, Crazy Eyes, Taystee, Big Boo and Pennsatucky. They were just so funny! This season also gets more involved with back stories on characters like Soso, Vause, Black Cindy, Healy, Pennsatucky, Big Boo, Norma, Leanne and many more! I think every episode had a back story for someone.

This was also the season of entrepreneurship. Piper learns how to start a business even while being locked up. There is some relationship drama as well, and Crazy Eyes seems to become a popular author. Things in the kitchen went downhill after saving the prison from being closed down, and they now had to eat bagged food. Red found a way to get at least a few decent meals on the table for a few lucky inmates. And Norma is silent but very influential to her fellow inmates.

Overall, I thought this was a great season. Piper and Alex were a bit annoying to me, but the other women were hilarious. Definitely a must watch season. This show does not get old. Make sure to check out Orange is the New Black streaming on Netflix today! And a BIG thank you to the #StreamTeam for sending me these awesome candles for my mantle (see below):
