A House Full of Pets = A Filtrete Odor Reduction Intervention

Have Smelly Pet Odor or Allergens To Eliminate?
~ Filtrete Odor Reduction Filters Are the Way to Go! ~
Filtrete Odor Reduction Filter
So as you’ve read in past posts, you know I’m a sucker when it comes to pets. I see their cute little puppy eyes or the way a little kitten will snuggle up to you, and it’s all over. I’m taking in another animal. Most recently it was a bunny I took in. My daughter was so upset when her fish died, that I actually agreed to a bunny. Crazy, I know. I will say he is a cute pet to have and well-behaved for the most part. We have him litter boxed trained in his cage, so that way when he’s out roaming he’s not going potty all over the house. His cage is in the basement though, and yes the litter does smell. The cat litter around the corner does too. These are probably the biggest drawbacks to owning a cat and rabbit; stinky litter.

There’s a new way to help remedy this problem now! The Filtrete Odor Reduction Filters. They last up to three months and help to reduce odors in the air! How great is that? I hate when people burn candles or use sprays to mask unwanted scents in the air, so this is a better option where the filter brings in the odors and traps them in the filter to eliminate the foul odors in the air. It also helps with people the have an issue with allergens in the air. So many people these days suffer with allergies, and as you’ve read in previous posts I do as well, so this is a wonderful tool for people to use to help deal with their allergy suffering. I am allergic to all our pets, but do my best to medicate and use items such as these Filtrete Odor Reduction Filters to help make me fee better.

The Culprits:

Mini Lop Rabbit
Skrubby, the rabbit

Coton de Tulear
Valentino, the dog

Siamese Cat
Jasper, the cat

Filtrete Odor Reduction Filters reduce airborne allergens such as household dust, mold spores, pollen, dust mite debris, and pet dander from the air. Carbon filters are effective at removing odors from the air including those from smoke, pets, mildew, cleaning chemicals, and even unwanted cooking odors. These filters attract and capture air particles that harbor viruses, bacteria and odor.
Have you heard of Lisa Beres? Well, she is a certified green building professional, Building Biologist (BBEC), and children’s book author. Here are some of her tips and simple solutions to naturally create and maintain a fresh home:
Source: Pet odors
Solution: Furry companions are considered family members to many — 72 percent of American households today own either a dog or a cat1. Reduce the unpleasant smell of pet dander by bathing and grooming your pet weekly and establishing pet-free zones in the home, such as the bedroom.

Source: Damp towels
Solution: Wet towels from a shower, a trip to the gym or a day at the pool can be a breeding ground for mildew to develop if they sit too long without drying. To rid towels of the mildew smell, first wash them once in hot water with a cup or two of white vinegar. Then wash them again with a natural or eco-friendly laundry detergent. Finally, dry the towels in the dryer on high heat. To avoid mildew and associated smells in the future, hang towels up right away to ensure they dry thoroughly.

Source: Cooking
Solution: Prevent unappealing cooking odors, such as fish, from spreading and lingering throughout the entire home by upgrading to the Filtrete Odor Reduction Filter. It traps odors and gases from the air passing through the filter and helps keep the home fresh for families and houseguests. Synthetic air fresheners, candles and incense only provide temporary relief from odors by masking them in one particular room but will do nothing to remove the odors from the entire home.

Filtrete Odor Reduction Filters are available at select home centers, hardware and grocery stores nationwide. They can also be purchased online. Suggested Retail Price: $15.99

  10. I’m going to have to try the filter. Our cat litter is awful. We can’t bathe our dog weekly because she’s an English Bulldog and it will dry out her skin and make her fur fall out if we bathe her more than once a month.

  11. Thanks for letting me know about these.
