Soulmates…..Who Are They? How Many Do You Have? #CBias

Have You Met Your Soulmate? What About Your Extraordinary Love?

Attracting Your Extraordinary Love is a book by Ricky Cohen that takes you through the beginning of a relationship, including how to attract your mate and know if your mate is right for you. Cohen talks about how you need to be your best “you” first and how to go about that. Using forgiveness for yourself and others is a great way to clear the path for a “you” that is desirable and available to others. Cohen mentions some wonderful strategies to make yourself happy, your relationship with your mate strong, and how to continue a long and lasting relationship with your “love mate.”

What is a “love mate” you might wonder? Cohen says that we actually have multiple soulmates in our lives. Family and friends that we surround ourselves with for support are our soulmates that enrich our lives, and the soulmate at the pinnacle of all relationships is that of our significant other which is called your love mate. He also says that all your support and happiness does not need to be supplied to you just from your love mate, but it takes all the soulmates you surround yourself with to lead a healthy and happy fulfilling life. I really like this, because sometimes you may think that your love mate should be there to fulfill everything in your life and when they don’t this can be disappointing. It’s nice to know you are supposed to rely on a number of people, not just one person for your complete happiness and fulfillment.

Cohen says that you can also have outside interests in your life, and that if you just share in what each other likes you don’t necessarily have to love what the other does, just show interest in it and support your mate. I think this is true to some extent, but my husband and I had a talk after I read the book (and portions aloud to him), and we think that having some common interests in nice too. My husband and I like to travel and see new places together, so this is a nice interest that we share. We just traveled to Ireland this past summer for our 10-year anniversary and we enjoyed spending time alone with each other and exploring a new country together.

I would definitely recommend the book Attracting Your Extraordinary Love by Ricky Cohen to almost anyone. It’s great if you are single and seeking your love mate, it’s a good read for people that are planning on getting married and looking at their lives together in the future, and it is even a good resource for those that have been married for years to remind them about how relationships work and grow.

I love how Cohen says there is a changing “face of love” and that love can look different in a relationship at different times during the relationship. It can evolve, change, and grow. You and your partner just have to recognize this change and accept it together and work on your relationship together. This is the kind of book that is a short read and one that you can refer back to for advice. I will be keeping it handy!

My Favorite Things About the Book:
1. Nice short chapters for a quick and easy read

2. Cohen says the chapters are short because the words are chosen carefully and with special meaning
3. The advice given is wonderful to help marriages be sustainable and loving for a lifetime
4. I could relate to so many issues being discussed on how to deal with other people (family and friends)
5. I would recommend this book to all couples to read!!!

After reading this book, my husband and I decided to get away from the kids for a night and do dinner on our own. We love our kids very much, but sometimes it’s nice to be together without the kids and talk about our lives and relationship together. We decided to eat in our quaint little downtown area of East Greenwich, RI. The downtown is one thing that brought us to this area. We fell in love with the feel and history of the town. We ate at La Masseria, a fairly new Italian restaurant in the downtown area (there is another in New York City).

The food at La Masseria was amazing, and we spent time discussing our relationship now, the past almost 11 years of marriage, and just had fun together! I am glad this book prompted us to discuss our marriage, because people start to take each other for granted in this hectic world we live in with TV, kids’ activities, and work consuming our every day lives. It’s nice to slow down, look at each other in the eyes, talk about each other’s interests, and support and praise each other. Thanks to Cohen, we are going to try and make this “date night” a monthly occurrence to keep our marriage strong.

  12. Love your review, we are well overdue for a date night, think we need to start planning.

  13. “It’s nice to know you are supposed to rely on a number of people, not just one person for your complete happiness and fulfillment.”

That is exactly right! We have multiple people in our lives to fulfill all of our needs, and we need to remember that it’s a lot to ask of a person to be everything.

This sounds like a great book! I love a good relationship book. More people need to read them, even if they are in a good relationship. I think the world would be a happier place.
